Amethyst

Amethyst is the birthstone associated with February and the zodiac sign Aquarius. It comes in a variety of shades including purple. lilac, pink, mauve or pale green. Amethyst can be heat treated to change the colour to yellow, producing citrine. Amethyst can be found in Russia, Brazil, Canada, Sri Lanka, India, Germany, Uruguay, Madagascar the USA, Namibia and Zambia. Crystals that are part citrine and part amethyst are called ametrine.
